COLBOND RAISES PRICES BY
6-9%
EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 2008
Arnhem, the Netherlands (July 21, 2008) – Reflecting the
ongoing and significant rise of raw material, energy and transport costs,
Colbond announced today an increase of prices in Europe and Asia for its entire
product range by 6-9% effective September 1, 2008. A similar step was taken in
North America.
“We are constantly looking for opportunities to mitigate the
impact of cost increases by means of efficiency improvements and substantial
achievements have been made.” said Axel Poscher, Colbond Vice President. “An
average cost increase of over 10% for our core raw materials (polyamide,
polyester and polypropylene) during the past 12 months however now forces us to
pass part of the increase on to our customers.”
The company states that the need for price
increases has been further reinforced by energy and transportation costs which
have also risen sharply with no downward trend projected for the foreseeable
future.

COLBOND LAUNCHES NEXT GENERATION PVD
Performance increased by 50% -
Quicker soil consolidation and reduced construction time
Arnhem, the Netherlands (April 2008) – After
intense in-house research and development work Colbond now launches their latest product innovation
for civil engineering applications: A prefabricated vertical drain (PVD) marked by a unique
hydraulically designed drainage core bonded to nonwoven filter layers over its entire surface.
The core is shaped into a solid channel profile and ensures outstanding water flow rates, resulting
in quicker settlement of soft soils and a significant reduction of the construction time for infrastructure
projects on marshland areas or reclaimed land. .
“A pioneer in the development of geosynthetic
products, Colbond introduced the first Colbonddrain® CX1000 vertical drain more than thirty years
ago. Backed-up by practical experience gained from hundreds of millions of meters of vertical
drain installed worldwide and extensive laboratory tests, Colbond has since then continually improved
their Colbonddrain® CX1000. The latest CX1000 however sets a new benchmark in the field of soil
consolidation products.“
The unique combination of a patented solid core firmly
covered with strong, yet permeable nonwoven filters increases water flow capacity by more than 50%.
The fully bonded composite maintains these discharge rates even when buckled beyond 90º, which can
happen as upper clay layers settle.
As a result, the time soil takes to consolidate before construction can take place is reduced
significantly, resulting in substantial cost savings for contractors and project owners.
“After years of dedicated work accomplished by our
Product Management and R&D teams, I am very pleased that we can now offer this new PVD, which is
without equal in soil consolidation performance”. says Blair Rawes, Director Sales & Marketing.
“During the past few months, the drain has been introduced to and been tested by a number of major
customers. The feedback received was positive and confirmed our high expectations on the potential
of this new PVD.”

EXTRA MANPOWER FOR BENELUX CIVIL ENGINEERING TEAM
Arnhem, the Netherlands (February 2008) - Colbond’s
team for Civil Engineering in the Benelux has been given extra manpower. Area Sales Manager Ronald Janssen and
Technical Manager Erik-Jan Kollen were recently appointed to handle the growth Colbond sees in the Benelux.
“For some time already we observe an increasing demand
for our geosynthetic products for civil engineered construction works. A strong and constant growth
for Enkagrid in reinforced earth projects and a steady increase of erosion control by Enkamat made
it clear we needed extra capacity in manpower. On top of this we aim to spend more time in the expanding
business for Enkadrain Wide in landfill capping. These are positive developments for us”, says
Blair Rawes, Director Sales & Marketing Civil Engineering for Colbond, “and we are happy to have
found motivated and expert people in Ronald en Erik-Jan. As Colbond we are used to a very client approached
way of working and to offering distinct, individual solutions to various technical questions. With Ronald and
Erik-Jan on our team we are definitely able to maintain this tailor made formula. “
As Technical Manager, Erik-Jan is part of the Civil Engineering
Product Management team for the Benelux. With its specialized expertise, the team offers technical support
in finding optimal solutions for engineering problems. Erik-Jan was active as Development Engineer for Colbond
for a number of years before he made his switch within the company. Thus he reinforces the team with
valuable experience.
Ronald Janssen’s main focus as Area Sales Manager will
be on civil engineering projects in The Netherlands. Ronald: “The challenge for me? That is to seek
and find the best answers for projects which are often technically complicated. And that to everyone’s
full content.”
