Uses

Construction often disturbs naturally growing layers of vegetation. Not infrequently, large areas are destroyed by human activity in itself. But, even without human causes, soils and their vegetation are exposed to many influences which put natural systems out of balance.

Unless action is undertaken immediately, wind and water take their toll, and the soil erodes, creating major problems, not only for engineers and users, but also nature itself, during and after construction.

In many cases, local conditions are such that with only natural planting or reseeding permanent green vegetated slopes are not achieved.

It is then vital to install erosion protection mats to reduce the impact of wind and water on the newly vegetated soil, preventing soil running off and to give the vegetation time to establish itself. When nature works together with erosion protection mats, roots are able to establish themselves and stabilize the soil.

Where small waves break on the slopes to be vegetated, lightweight open erosion protection mats and or plants are not enough to stabilize such areas. What is needed in this case are heavy erosion protection mats capable of withstanding the forces even without vegetation.

To assure the stability of the soil cover on impermeable liners (e.g. geomembranes) or other smooth surfaces, a combination of a grip layer and a reinforcing grid is being required.

Enkamat works hand in hand with nature to fulfill the demands arising from the most diverse applications, offering effective assistance in keeping the soil cover in place and establishing the right vegetation.

If nature alone cannot handle the challenges thrown at it, immediate, permanent erosion protection using Enkamat is always the right choice for a reliable solution.
