Enkamat W

Enkamat W is the name of a range of reinforced Enkamat products. It is a flexible lightweight geocomposite 5.0 m wide consisting of a three-dimensional grip layer and a reinforcing grid or woven fabric. Both components are firmly sewn together.

On smooth, sloping, water-impermeable surfaces it is difficult or impossible to establish a stable vegetation layer. Enkamat W can reliably provide a grip layer which will prevent soil off.

Enkamat W can be used as a reinforcing grip layer on geomembranes in landfill capping layers, retention/balancing ponds and lined impounding reservoirs. Geomembranes need a soil cover to protect them against UV and mechanical damage not to mention aesthetic reasons. Where the friction between the soil cover and the geomembrane is too low to achieve an acceptable slope angle, Enkamat W can be used to ensure stability.

Combining the proven three-dimensional structure of Enkamat with a reinforcement grid or woven fabric gives a simple reliable system for stabilizing vegetation layers.

Enkamat W must be secured in adequately sized trenches at the top of the slopes for anchorage.

The grid or woven fabric to which the Enkamat grip layer is connected absorbs and transfers the forces generated by the soil and vegetation cover.

Enkamat W is available with reinforcement grid or woven fabrics of different strengths. Colbond's engineers and their representatives will be happy to help you to find the right product for your project and to assist with design if necessary. Simple design instructions are also available free of charge.
