Enkagrid TRC occupies a special position within the Enkagrid product family. It is a multifunctional composite of a high-tensile-strength Twaron^® aramid mesh and thermally bonded nonwovens, capable of absorbing equal tensions in both longitudinal and transverse direction. The characteristics of Enkagrid TRC open up a very wide range of applications. It strengthens weak or poor sub-soils, and is also suitable for reinforcing the aggregate base course in paved or unpaved roadways, parking areas, small embankments, building foundations and platforms.

Enkagrid TRC fulfils the functions of reinforcement, separation and filtration in one easy-to install product.

The bundled Twaron aramid fibers, typically five times stronger than steel, have a unique blend of mechanical properties with high modulus and low elongation mobilizing high tensile forces with minimal deformation of the sub-base, making this composite the right choice for the most demanding applications and projects. Enkagrid TRC is used where conventional geoplastics reach their limits. This is often the case where cracks in structures have to be prevented or stopped from propagating to the surface, and where virtually no creep deformation is allowable in reinforcement or stabilization layers.

The thermally bonded nonwoven separates and filters at the same time; it prevents fine subsoil particles penetrating into the road structure and degrading the sub-base.

Using Enkagrid TRC can cut costs considerably, as it may make it possible to reduce the sub-base thickness and prolong the active service life of a structure, in both construction and use.
