Enkadrain Wide is a multifunctional geosynthetic drain and protection layer, mainly used in landfills. Enkadrain Wide, of which a range of different product types is available, has also proven effective for drainage under large embankments, beneath rooftop gardens, parking decks and below foundation slabs.

Like other members of the Enkadrain product family, Enkadrain Wide has a three-dimensional monofilament drainage core. This core is thermally pre-formed in a V-shape configuration, making it optimally pressure resistant. All Enkadrain Wide product types are manufactured in 5 m width with the filters connected to the drainage core by means of stitching. Both parts of the geocomposite are tailored for the specific application.

Using Enkadrain Wide offers considerable advantages over conventional methods in many different areas. Used in waste containment on top of the capping membrane, it usually replaces the 0.30 m thick mineral drain layer, leaving more room for waste fill. Also there is a reduction in the number of trucks required for transport of the drainage materials, simplifying construction and improving the environment. Enkadrain Wide can be laid in all weather conditions.

The 5 m wide rolls can be laid cost-efficiently over large areas, reducing the number of joints to be connected to a minimum, which in turn reduces the risk of laying errors significantly.



Numerous laboratory tests and excavations have shown that Enkadrain Wide products have good long-term drainage capacity. Colbond's unique zigzag structure (V-shape) ensures outstanding long term performance, even under the loads which may be experienced at landfills.

Enkadrain Wide has a good internal shear resistance which has been demonstrated by direct shear tests, proving that Enkadrain Wide may be used on relatively steep slopes. Shear parameters are available for a wide range of Enkadrain on smooth or textured membranes and geosynthetic bentonite layers.

Enkadrain Wide production is subject to stringent internal and external monitoring to DIN 18200 (Assessment of Conformity for Construction Products). Colbond as a company is certified to ISO 9001:2000 and Enkadrain
5006H/5-2s/M200PP, 5004C/5-2s/T110PP and a number of other Enkadrain Wide product types have obtained
CE-certification by an independent notified body.

Individual test reports and opinions have been conducted or assessed by independent organizations and authorities. In Germany in particular, independent inspectors are monitoring the product's use at numerous landfills.

Enkadrain Wide has been showing its great performance at many landfill sites and other large projects such as parking decks, green roofs and similar applications since 1985.
